14-Year-Old Slain in Apparent Drive-by Shooting in Lewisdale
Boy was one of two victims, police say.
A 14-year-old boy has died after being shot in what police believe was a gang-related shooting in Lewisdale early Wednesday.
At 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 5, police were called to the 2200 block of Sheridan Street for a report of a shooting. Officers arriving on the scene discovered two males suffering from gunshot wounds. One adult male was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
The second victim, 14-year-old Eliezer Benjamin Reyes of Lewisdale, was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said that the preliminary investigation indicates that the shots were fired from a car as the victims and two other witnesses walked down the street together. Police said that two of the people in the group walking down the street were documented gang members, leading police to believe the shooting was gang-related.
The car used in the shooting has been recovered by police.
Police are currently working to determine a motive for the shooting and identify suspects.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
This was one of two shootings in the area overnight.
The other shooting took place at approximately 10:15 p.m. near the 7900 block of Riggs Road in Langley Park. The victim in that shooting was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Police are working to establish a motive and identify a suspect in that case.

What the hell is going on in Hyattsville? This used to be such a nice, quiet, safe area before the Metro and the "improved" Prince George's Plaza. Would move if I could afford to.

Yes, condolences to the victim's family and friends. It seems that the tragic shooting happened in Lewisdale not Hyattsville.

Isn't that a "po-tay-toe/po-tah-toe" sort of thing?

Exacty Emil! Hyattsville, Lewisville what difference does it make really. The point is there is way too much crime in both these areas!
