Prince George's County Police Shoot Man Armed With Knife

A 24-year-old Bladensburg resident is in critical condition after police-involved shooting.

A Prince George's County police officer shot and critically injured a man who police said approached the officer while holding a knife during a domestic incident near Bladensburg Sunday night.

According to police, multiple officers responded to the 3500 block of 55th Avenue near Bladensburg for reports of a woman being threatened by an ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Damon Earl Wilson, who lived around the corner in the 5400 block of Newton Street. The woman had called 911 after Wilson had kicked in his door and assaulted her, police said.

While police were on the scene talking with the woman, Wilson returned to the scene bearing a knife in one hand, officials said.

One of the officers on the scene confronted Wilson, ordering him to drop his weapon but Wilson did not comply and approached the officer while still holding the knife, police said in a statement.

"The officer, fearing for his life, was forced to fire his service weapon," according to a press release from county police.

The officer has worked for police for four years and is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol. He has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation into the incident is completed.

Wilson was taken to a hospital and is reported in stable condition. He faces charges of attempted first- and second-degree murder, among other charges, police said.

There are so many corrupt cops in the municipalities and PG County, I'm sure they'll lie about this as well.

That sort of generalization strikes me as a bit lazy, Mr. Carroll.
