In honor of Dr. Seuss, volunteers descended upon Hyattsville Elementary School and other schools nationwide as part of Read Across America Day.

Volunteer readers read some of Dr. Seuss' masterpieces like Thidwick the Big- Hearted Moose, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Oh, The Places We'll Go! and others.

Hyattsville Patch Editor Michael Theis even got in on the action, telling kids the tale of Thidwick The Big-Hearted Moose and his annoying guests living in his horns.

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make Theodor Geisel's birthday a special occasion for the kids! And good for you, Michael, for getting in on the fun.

Thanks, Councilor Warner. I had a laugh, too, when my guide asked me if I had been to Hyattsville Elementary before. It was good seeing my old school again.
