Holiday Menus: Your Guide to a Few Hyattsville Haunts this Season

Looking for a New Year's Eve party? Check out the Franklin's event.

Hyattsville restaurants are serving up some holiday cheer this winter and residents are going to be hungry for it.

Franklin’s

At Franklin’s Restaurant, Brewery & General Store, the specials menu is updated regularly to accommodate seasonal changes in locally grown foods, according to manager Anne Flaherty.

One of the bestselling sandwiches on the seasonal menu this winter is The Day After Thanksgiving, which features Thanksgiving favorites such as turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce served on white bread.

Thanks to brewer Mike Roy, Franklin’s customers can also expect a seasonal rotation of beer. Old Miser, an English Old Ale, and Oatmeal Stout will be out this winter.

The restaurant will be hosting a New Year’s Eve party for the general public starting at 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, and that will include happy hour drink prices, a free appetizer buffet, and champagne toast at midnight.

Hank’s

Thirsty patrons can also go to Hank’s Tavern & Eats at University Town Center for holiday drink specials. The December bar menu includes specialty mock cocktails created with syrups made in the restaurant. The syrup flavors include raspberry, passion fruit and mint.

Stephanie Heaton, restaurant manager, said of all the drinks, the spiced pineapple punch made with ginger syrup is the popular drink right now.

Hank’s will be open, for the first time ever on Christmas Eve from 3p.m. to 9p.m., Heaton said.

Busboys and Poets

If residents are hungry for a taste of Washington, D.C., they will have to look no further then Busboys and Poets, located in the Hyattsville Arts District. According to manager Patrick Bonisteel, Hyattsville residents can warm up with heavier fares this winter. Chicken and barley soup, meatloaf and tilapia are some of the new options on the menu.

Patrons can also brew over hot cider and coffee beverages at the Busboys and Poets bar this winter.

Bonisteel said the restaurant will not hold any public holiday parties because the business is still expanding, but groups can rent out the Howard Zinn Room to host private parties.
