A trio of burglars were caught red handed yesterday morning by officers from the Hyattsville City Police Department, but they had a little help from the victim, whose house was equipped with a digital video surveillance system.

It all began around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, when city police received a report of a burglary in progress in the 3200 block of Gumwood Drive in Hyattsville. The victim, who was not home at the time of the burglary, called police after his home security system alarm went off. The victim's security system included video cameras set up inside his home, and the victim was able to remotely view images of the burglars in his house in real-time. 

City police were on the scene within minutes, and were able to arrest the three suspects inside the house. All three were in possession of the victim's property, which was recovered and returned the resident. 

Police arrested Trevor Alexander Jones of the 1500 block of Madison Street in Chillum, Ivan Duane Williams, Sr. of the 7000 block of Highview Terrace in Chillum, and Maurice Darious McRae of the 6700 block of Mesquite Court in Forestville. 

All three face charges of first degree burglary and theft of items valued between $1,000 and $10,000 and other related charges.
