Hyattsville Crime Map - Stabbing Near School

Among the crimes reported last week, a victim was stabbed during an assault and robbery near Nicholas Orem Middle School.

 

Among the notable items in this week's Hyattsville City Police Department crime report is a stabbing near Northwestern High School. According to police, on about 4:30 p.m. on March 12, the victim was confronted by five unknown suspects as he crossed the parking lot of Nicholas Orem Middle School. They knocked him to the ground and began hitting and kicking him. It was only when the victim returned home that he discovered that he had been stabbed. 

A call to Sgt. Chris Purvis, HCPD's public information officer, has not yet been returned.

March 12, 2012 THEFT 6000 blk 39th Avenue sometime between 5:30 a.m. on 3-9-12 and noon this date someone stole property from the victim’s residence.
March 12, 2012 THEFT 3000 blk Hamilton Street at approximately noon a suspect was arrested for shoplifting and trespassing at a grocery store in this area.

March 12, 2012 ASSAULT 6100 blk Editors Park Drive at approximately 4:30 p.m. the victim was approached by five unknown suspects as he crossed the parking lot of Nicholas Orem Middle School. They knocked him to the ground and began hitting and kicking him. When he got home he found that he had been stabbed in the back.

March 12, 2012 ROBBERY 3100 blk Lancer Drive at approximately 11:15 p.m. while walking into her driveway a silver vehicle stopped and an unknown suspect exited the vehicle.  He ran up to the victim and pushed her to the ground. The suspect fled with her purse toward Jamestown Road.
March 13, 2012 THEFT 3500 blk East West Highway at approximately 3:00 p.m. a suspect was arrested for shoplifting at a store at the mall.
March 13, 2012 THEFT 3500 blk East West Highway at approximately 3:45 p.m. two suspects were arrested for shoplifting at a store at the mall.
March 14, 2012 THEFT FROM AUTO 5300 blk Queens Chapel Road at approximately 7:45 a.m. while the victim was putting gas into her vehicle an unknown suspect entered the passenger side and removed property.
March 15, 2012 BURGLARY 5900 blk Jamestown Road at approximately 1:30 p.m. three unknown suspects broke into a residence in this area and removed property.
March 16, 2012 THEFT FROM AUTO 3000 blk Hamilton Street sometime during the night someone siphoned fuel from a truck parked in this area.
March 16, 2012 THEFT 3500 blk East West Highway sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. someone stole the victim’s cell phone while she was shopping at the mall.
March 16, 2012 THEFT 3500 blk East West Highway at approximately 1:45 p.m. an employee of a store in the mall was arrested for stealing from same.
