Hyattsville CX Registration Opens Tonight

More than a dozen races seek racers for October off-road cycling competition, fundraiser at Magruder Park.

Get ready to scrape some mud off of your bike. Registration for the Hyattsville CX cyclocross race opens tonight at 8 p.m.

The Hyattsville CX is a day-long series of cyclocross races around a course in Magruder Park in southern Hyattsville on Oct. 7, 2012. The event raises funds for the Prince George's County Special Olympics. Last year, the race raised $7,000 for the Special Olympics and had more than 600 riders participate.

The Hyattsville CX is part of the MABRACross Super 8 cyclocross race series.

This year, there's 11 heats and 18 races in all, beginning at 8:15 a.m. mens Cat 4 beginner race and culminating in a 4:15 p.m. special olympians victory lap. Full list can be seen over at Bikereg.com.

Adult registration fees for the races run between $25-$27, plus Bikereg.com's service charge. Fees for the junior races run $10.

Online registration closes on Thursday, Oct. 4 at midnight.
