It is unfortunate, but not surprising, considering the speeds the traffic reaches during off peak times and the fact that if the pedestrian had gone a half block in either direction he could have crossed with a light. Both driver and pedestrian behavior in this area are often high risk. The driver should have stopped.

Aw that is sad. As a long time resident of four corners; and Blair alumni university Blvd. is a death trap. From adelphi all the way up to Wheaton plaza. People DO NOT obey the speed limit. I have been in 1 serious accident myself in my junior year. By graduation I had actually witnessed a friend get hit by a car at rt 29 and university intersection and 3 other friends had died at the hands of this piece of road. 1 infront of eastern; a girl infront of northwood and a girl infront of the Pickwick complex. Its insane. Now instead of a hit and run you have people stepping out of their cars and killing others. Road rage is also an issue in this area. LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
