Prince George's County Police have no new information on last night's murder at University Town Center, according to Cpl. E. Johnson.

But some people who were working in the area around the plaza saw all they needed to.

Jeimy Garcia, an employee at Old Dominion Brewhouse, was working when the incident erupted outside the bar’s windows.

“I was the one who called the police,” she said, adding that someone she didn’t know came into the bar and told her about the fight. “I saw the guy who was stabbed.”

Garcia, of Riverdale, has worked at Old Dominion for about nine months. She said she was somewhat nervous when the stabbing happened last night, but she is not anxious about it today.

Anielka Urbina is a manager at Five Guys. She was not on duty last night when Leonard R. Smith-Matthews was fatally stabbed, but the manager on duty then did not see anything, Urbina said.

Five Guys is located about a block south of the homicide location.

"Some people have been talking about that so maybe they are scared but I don’t know," Urbina said of the tenor of customers today.

Business was down slightly today, she said.

Managers at Carolina Kitchen and Wild Onion declined comment. Patch is talking to other businesses and will get back to you with new information as it becomes available.

This was over a pair of expensive sneekers. These kids seem to think that life is one big video game. They need to realize that there is no reset button in the real world. I am suprised that it took almost 4 years for this unfortunate act to take place. UTC has been overrun with this type of criminal element. At this rate, I hope the retail shops that are still there will be able to survive the bad press and the stigma of violent crime that calls University Town Center home. I hope someday that this will not be the case. Until that happens, the jury is still out.
