Anacostia Watershed Society, Hyattsville city hosting river cleanup effort at Magruder Park this Saturday, volunteers needed.
The Anacostia Watershed Society and the city of Hyattsville are looking for volunteers to help clean up the Northwest Branch of the Anacostia River at Magruder Park this weekend.
"Volunteers are a very crucial part of that effort" said Maddie Koenig volunteer coordinator with the Anacostia Watershed Society, referring to efforts to maintain or improve the quality of the Anacostia Watershed. "Almost all of the restoration work we do at AWS…is done by volunteers."
The cleanup begins on Sat. Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. Volunteers will meet at the parking lot off of the 4900 block of 38th Street in Hyattsville.
Volunteers are asked to RSVP with the AWS beforehand. Students looking to add community service hours just need to bring the appropriate forms for organizers to sign off on.
