A Prince George's County police officer was transported to a hospital after a car crash involving a police cruiser in Hyattsville earlier Monday.

The officer was not believed to be seriously injured but was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to Cpl. Maria McKinney of the Prince George's County Police Department's Media Relations Division.

McKinnry said the incident occurred about 2:39 p.m. at the intersection of Rhode Island Avenue and 42nd Place in southern Hyattsville. Additional details were not immediately available.
