Thursday, Feb. 9

7-9 p.m. - Archie Edwards Blues Barbershop Open Mic - Urban Eats Arts and Music Cafe - No Cover

The Archie Edwards Blues Barbershop will host a new monthly open mic and acoustic jam session at Urban Eats Arts and Music Cafe near the intersection of 34th Street and Rhode Island Avenue in Mount Rainier.

9-11 p.m. - Thursday Night Open Mic - Busboys and Poets - $5 Cover

Regional spoken word artist Pages Matam hosts this week's installment of Busboy's open mic. Come out to see a wide range of performers take to the stage to speak some beautiful truth. 

Friday, Feb. 10

7:30 p.m. - Kate Charnock and Mercedes Mill - Urban Eats Arts and Music Cafe - No Cover

Kate is an acoustic indie singer/songwriter whostarted writing music in college and has developed her own unique sound which can be heard on her independently released EP Paper Wings. Mercedes Mill is a folk rock singer/songwriter living in Washington, D.C. Mercedes draws inspiration from such artists as the Ink Spots, Leonard Cohen, Emmylou Harris, Cat Stevens and more. 

Saturday, Feb. 11

8 p.m. - MSG: The Acoustic Blues Trio - Glassie/Little House - $20 Donation

The Acoustic Blues Trio, fronted by vocalist Resa Gibbs, guitarist Miles Spicer and harmonica player Jackie Merritt, play a traditional Piedmont blues sound, with tunes running the gamut from mournful ballads to foot stoping party music. This is a house show, so you'll need to make reservations with Jeff Glassie via email in order to get directions. 

Sunday, Feb. 12

5-7p.m. - Conversations in the Corridor -Busboys and Poets - No Cover

Discussion series examines issues facing residents, businesses and government leaders along the Gateway Arts District, which encompases Hyattsville, Mount Rainier, Brentwood and North Brentwood. This week's discussion: "Underserved or Desperate? How the Cafitz property debate forces us to answer some tough questions"
