Police Call Boxes Taken Off Line Temporarily
Hyattsville's seven emergency police call boxes will be shut off for two weeks as a result of roof maintenance.
Work to repair the roof at the Hyattsville Municipal Building will take Hyattsville's seven police emergency call boxes and surveillance cameras offline for about two weeks. The work will require the temporary discconnection of the rooftop equipment which links city police headquarters with the call boxes and cameras.
The cameras and call boxes are normally monitored 24 hours a day, said Sgt. Chris Purvis, public information officer for the Hyattsville City Police Department. During the downtime, Purvis encourages residents to add the city police department phone number–301-985-5050 to their cell phone contacts in case needed.
