Suspect Sought for Questioning in String of Break-Ins

Authorities say one of two men who fled from Riverdale Park Police on Tuesday remains at large.

Local authorities are searching for a suspect who allegedly fled from Riverdale Park Police on Tuesday when they tried to question him regarding a string of recent break-ins.

Officers attempted to the stop two men around noon in the 4600 block of Tuckerman Street, according to University Park Police Chief Michael Wynnyk, but the suspects dropped a backpack and ran away.

Police managed to apprehend one of the men, Wynnyk wrote, while the second escaped and was last seen in the vicinity of Baltimore Avenue/Pineway/Clagett Road.

Multiple units searched the area but were unable to locate the individual, according to Wynnyk.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old black male with a "shoulder-length dreadlock-style haircut." He was reportedly wearing red shorts and carrying a red-and-white striped shirt at the time of the incident.

Police are asking residents to contact 911 immediately if a person matching this description is seen.

A number of residential break-ins have been reported across the area in recent weeks, including an Aug. 27 burglary on 44th Avenue in University Park.
