Readers' Choice: Best Spot for Mother's Day Brunch

It's not quite breakfast and not quite lunch. Who makes it best on Mother's Day?

There are many ways to celebrate mom on Mother's Day, from carnations to homemade cards to gifts of all varieties. But when it comes to presents of an edible nature, nothing quite compares to a good brunch.

Whether mom prefers the richness of Eggs Benedict, the crispness of fresh fruit, or simply the company of her family at the table, a Mother's Day brunch is a classic way to say thanks for all her love and hard work.

So for this week's Readers' Choice, we pose the question: what's the best local spot for Mother's Day brunch? Cast your vote in the poll below, and tell us why you made your pick in the comments.

Your choices are:

The poll is open until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9. Please vote no more than once per day. And if we've left out any great options, let us know in the comments.

Because this poll is not scientific, the votes will not be the sole consideration in choosing the winner. The winner will be determined by Patch editors, and the selection will be based on poll results, ratings and reviews. Please vote only once per survey and per Patch. Other Readers' Choice rules accompany this post in a PDF.

And don't forget: Mother's Day is next Sunday, May 13!

Mulligan's Grill at the UMD Golf Course is very nice. Unfortunately, they don't have tons of seating space and in past years have had two "seatings." Wide choice of food, and good service.

Has Jasper's in Greenbelt re-opened? Both locations (Bowie and Greenbelt) have been closed for quite some time.

Whoops, sorry about that! Meant to take them off of the list. Thanks for the heads-up, Debi.

The UMUC-Marriott Convention Hotel at the corner of Adelphi and 193 has outstanding brunch food (high end, well beyond IHOP level) . The setting is lovely, too, with floor to ceiling windows that open onto courtyards. If there's a wait, there are attractive walkways around the back of the Hotel (on the Lot 1 side) as well as art exhibits to peruse.

Many of these places don't have brunch, per-se, but they are open early enough that meals consumed within could be said to be brunch. As a kid, we always went to "brunch" at Franklin's deli after church, even though that usually meant ordering the roast beef sandwich.
