Second Suspect Named in 14-Year-Old's Murder
Police seek help finding a 22-year-old Lewisdale man.
Prince George's County Police have named a second suspect in the murder of 14-year-old Eliezer Benjamin in Lewisdale earlier this week. But detectives need help finding the suspect.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old John Junior Hernandez of the 2200 block of Guilford Road in Chillum's Lewisdale neighborhood. Police have charged Hernandez in the first degree murder of Benjamin.
Benjamin was one of two victims struck by gunfire just after midnight on Dec. 5, 2012. The teen was hit in the upper body by gunfire from a passing car, while he and the other victim walked along the 2200 block of Sheridan Street.
Benjamin was declared dead after being transported to a local hospital. The other victim was treated and released from the hospital.
Police are asking anyone with information which could lead to the capture of Hernandez to call the county police homicide unit at 301-772-4925.
Hernandez is the second suspect charged in relation to the fatal double shooting.
Shortly after the shooting, police arrested 24-year-old Hyattsville Jose Luis Rodriguez-Nunez after a Hyattsville city police officer tried to pull over a car believed to have been involved in the shooting. Two men ran from the car, and the officer was only able to capture the driver, Rodriguez-Nunez.
Police continue to investigate the homicide.
