Stags Face Paul VI in WCAC Hoops Title Game

Third times a charm? After dropping two regular season contests to Paul VI, DeMatha must face them again in the WCAC title game.

DeMatha Catholic High School's boys basketball team squeaked by Gonzaga, 45-42 to advance to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference title game tonight against Paul VI Catholic High School.

The Stags were led by James Robinson's 15 points, with another 10 being chipped in by center BeeJay Anya.

Gonzaga missed two late three-point shots which could have sent the game into overtime.

Tonight's game starts at 8:30 p.m. at Bender Arena at American University.

The Stags narrowly lost to Paul VI in the two times they met this season, dropping a 58-55 decision at DeMatha to close out the regular season and also dropping a 64-62 heart-stopping decision earlier in the season.

DeMatha enters the title game with a 27-4 record. Paul VI enters the game with a 28-2 record, and a top rank in the Washington Post basketball rankings.
