Suspect Poses As Courier In Hamilton Street Home Invasion

A man dressed as a courier robbed residents at a home on Hamilton Street in Hyattsville Friday.

Hyattsville City Police are asking residents to be cautious after a man dressed as a courier invaded a home on the 4000 block of Hamilton Street Friday morning.

According to a Nixle alert put out by the City of Hyattsville, the suspect is describe as a light-skinned black male, 5 feet, 11 inches tall, medium build. He was dressed in an official uniform from a well-known delivery company, although city staff would not releasing the name of the company.

The suspect displayed a black semi-automatic handgun and took a small amount of cash and some personal items from the home, according to the alert.

Police believe he had an accomplice.

Communications manager Abby Sandel said police are asking that if residents are expecting a delivery, they confirm with the courier who the delivery is for and who it's from in order to protect themselves before opening the door.
