Teens Face Adult Charges in Stabbing Near Northwestern

Police charge two Northwestern High School students with first degree attempted murder.

Prince George's County Police have charged two Northwestern High School students in a violent attack earlier this week that left another Northwestern student suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police arrested William Josue Beza-Martinez, of the 3200 block of Chillum Road in Mount Rainier, and Johnny Martinez-Barillas, of the 7300 block of 24th Avenue in the Lewisdale neighborhood of Chillum. Both suspects are 17-years-old, but police charged them as adults.

At about 2:50 p.m. on Sept. 5, police responded to an apartment complex outside of Hyattsville near the 5700 block of Belcrest Road for a report of a cutting. Upon arrival, police found a 15-year-old boy suffering from several stab wounds delivered by an ice pick.

The victim was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said that the victim was approached by the suspects and an argument ensued. The argument, sparked by a fight a day earlier involving the victim's cousin, turned violent.

Northwestern High School, near the site of the altercation, was put on lockdown as police conducted their investigation.

Martinez-Barillas and Beza-Martinez stand charged with a host of crimes, including attempted first degree murder and first degree assault.
