Tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m., a public hearing will be held at Riverdale Park Town Hall to discuss potential traffic and transportation issues arising from the Cafritz project.

The key document at issue is a 403-page traffic study prepared this summer by Wells & Associates, which lays out in great detail the expected impact of the development on surrounding roadways.

Related items—including the Cafritz transportation management plan, the transportation demand management district, and planned road connections to the site—are also likely to be discussed, according to Ward 1 Councilman Jonathan Ebbeler.

Under the Cafritz plan, some 900 units of housing, a 35,000-square-foot Whole Foods, a 120-room hotel, and additional office and retail space would be built on a 36-acre parcel at the north end of Riverdale Park. The project won a key zoning approval in July from the Prince George's County District Council.
