UPDATE: Prince George's County Homicide Count Increases
A timeline of homicides in Prince George's County. Some have been solved while others are still open.
Homicide, April 2: Abraham Felipe-Lopez, 32, of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street in Langley Park has been identified as the homicide victim in the April 2 cutting that occurred in the same block where the victim resided, according to Prince George's County Police.
At approximately 11:19 p.m., patrol officers received a call for a cutting. When they arrived on the scene, they found Felipe-Lopez, who was unresponsive, suffering from trauma to his body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.
Update, March 25, 3:44 p.m.: Police have identified the victim in Thursday night's homicide as Gregory Lucious Lawton, Jr., 31, of the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway in Temple Hills. Police are investigating a homicide
According to reports, Prince George's County Police received a call tonight about 9:35 p.m., for a shooting at the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway in Temple Hills. When they arrived on scene they found an unconscious man with body trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are working to establish a motive and suspect information.
Shooting, March 19: Prince George’s County Police are investigating the homicide of 57 year-old Standard Dean Sweet in Capitol Heights.
About 8:41 p.m., patrol officers responded to Franks Tavern, 1700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Standard Sweet, of the 3900 block of 1st Street, S.W. Washington, D.C., in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.
Homicide, March 9: Prince George’s County Police are investigating the murder of George Eugene Borden, 46, in Landover.
About 4:40 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 1300 block of Eli Place to check on the welfare of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, officers found Borden, of no fixed address, lying on the floor suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
Update, Feb. 15, 11:52 a.m.: Prince George's County Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a young male in Oxon Hill this morning. The homicide is the county's second killing in three days, and the 18th overall since Jan. 1.
County police officers were called to the 900 block of Kennebec Street in Oxon Hill for a report of an unresponsive male. Officers found the male lying near a trash dumpster with a gunshot wound to the upper body.
He was taken to the United Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where he was pronounced dead at 12:20 a.m., according to police information. The victim's identity is unknown.
Update, Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m.: Ralph Bernard Thomas Jr., 28, of the 2200 block of Barkley Place in Forestville, died from stab wounds early this morning in Suitland, according to Prince George's County Police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson.
At approximately 4:02 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 7500 block of Marion Street in District Heights for a report of a cutting, police said.
Upon arrival, officers found Thomas, of the 2200 block of Barkley Place in Forestville, suffering from stab wounds; he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, making this the county's 17th homicide this year.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim sustained his injuries at Silver Hill and Suitland roads. Thomas and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that subsequently ended when he was fatally injured, police said.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the area with another occupant in a light blue, 2007 or 2008 model, Chevrolet Malibu having an unknown original Maryland plate, according to police.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
Update, 9:15 p.m.: Brandon Earl Baswell, 24, of the 2900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE Washington, D.C., has been identified as the victim of this morning's shooting at Plaza 23, a nightclub in the 4300 block of St. Barnabas Road in Temple Hills, according to Prince George's County Police spokesman Cpl. Evan Baxter.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found Baswell suffering from trauma to his upper body; he was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, Baxter said.
Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in the county's 16th homicide since Jan 1.

Update, Jan. 29, 9:25 a.m.: Prince George's County Police responded at 3:30 a.m. to the "sound of shots" at Plaza 23 in the 4300 block of St. Barnabas Road in Temple Hills, according to spokesman Cpl. Evan Baxter.
Baxter said police found a male suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, making this the county's 16th homicide this year.
Plaza 23, according to its website, is Prince George's County newest rental and banquet hall facility.
Update, Jan. 24: Police are at the scene of a fatal shooting on Silver Hill Road in District Heights. the county's 15th homicide this year. Cpl. Larry Johnson, spokesman for the Prince George's County Police, said police arrived on the scene about 5 p.m. and found a man who was shot in the head. The victim was later pronounced dead.
Update, Jan. 19: A homicide this afternoon in Suitland is the 14th such crime in Prince George's County since Jan. 1.
The county police department’s homicide unit is investigating the murder of 22 year-old Douglas Hodge Jordan Jr. of the 2200 block of Mount View Place in Washington, D.C.
About 2:41 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 3500 block of Terrace Drive for a report of a shooting. When patrol officers arrived, they found Jordan suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
There is a $25,000 reward being offered for any information in this case.
Original Post: Prince George's County Police has ruled the Friday death of a Capitol Heights woman the county's 13th homicide of the year.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has made three arrests so far in connection with two of the homicides.
Vincent Eugene Miles, 29, of the 1500 block of Chillum Road in Chillum, and Neil Elmore Lawrence, 31, of the 1800 block of Glendora Drive in District Heights, were arrested in connection with a Jan. 5 homicide at 1300 Southview Drive in Oxon Hill, according to a PGPD press release from Tuesday.
Miles and Lawrence have been charged with first-degree murder and are being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.
The investigation revealed that this homicide was the result of a drug-related dispute.
Donte Douglas, 18, of the 600 block of Elfin Avenue in Capital Heights, was arrested in connection with the Jan. 9 homicide at the 3100 block of Dynasty Drive in Forestville. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is also being held without bond at the Department of Corrections. Police said the homicide was the result of a domestic dispute.
PGPD officers also arrested 17-year-old James Edward Taylor on Jan. 7 in connection with the Jan. 6 murder of Maurice Valentine. Taylor was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.
Here are summaries of the homicides that have been reported so far this year:
Jan. 1: About 10:24 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 5700 block of Cypress Creek Drive after receiving a call to check on the welfare of a resident at this location. Upon arrival officers found 58-year-old Ansel Donovan Whitelocke inside his apartment with trauma to his body. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Jan. 4: About 12:43 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 3900 block of Bexley Place after receiving a call for a shooting in the parking lot of the Upscale Ballroom. Upon arrival, officers found Clifton Antion Turner, 42, of the 3400 block of Fort Meade Road in Laurel suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Jan. 4: About 2:20 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 7200 block of Crafford Place after receiving a call for a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Mark Andrew Davis Jr, 28, of the 1700 block of Addison Road South in District Heights, inside the residence with trauma to his body. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Jan. 4: While investigating the homicide on Crafford Place, a motorist traveling along the 2200 block of Palmer Road spotted a body on the side of the roadway at 7:25 a.m. and alerted authorities. Officers arriving on scene discovered the body of Larry Junior Watkins, 38, a resident of the Crafford Place address, dead with trauma to his body. Preliminary investigations from detectives have revealed both murders are linked. A large quantity of narcotics was recovered from the Crafford Place residence.
Jan. 4: About 11:43 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 4000 block of Norcross Street for a report of a shooting. When patrol officers arrived, they discovered Michael DeAngelo Layne, 19, of the 3900 block of Triton Court in Temple Hills suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. A 21- year-old male was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition. A second 21-year-old and an 18-year-old were also taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Jan. 5: About 9:03 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 1300 block of Southview Drive after receiving a call for an assault. Upon arrival, officers found Terrance Calvin Hunter, 30, of the 13000 block of Rhame Drive in Fort Washington, in a stairwell of the complex with trauma to his body. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Jan. 6: About 11:35 a.m., uniform patrol officers responded to the 900 block of Central Hill Lane in Seat Pleasant, for a citizen’s complaint of the sound of gunshots in the area. Uniform patrol officers responded to the area and found 26-year-old Maurice Valentine, of the 5000 block of Kimi Gray Court in Washington, D.C., suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Jan. 7: About 8 a.m. police found Alitha Mae Jenkins, 51, of the 2400 block of Kent Village Place, was found just after 8 a.m. in the 1700 block of Olive Street. Police have ruled her death a homicide on Jan. 12.
Jan. 8: About 8 a.m. at the 1400 block of University Boulevard 30 year-old Alejandro Marcos Diaz Vasquez was found stabbed in the chest in the parking lot of a Bedford Station. He was taken to Washington Adventist Hospital and pronounced dead.
Jan. 8: About 9:09 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 3100 block of Dynasty Drive for a report of a shooting. When patrol officers arrived, they discovered Corteza Warren Livingston, 21, of the 3100 block of Dynasty Drive, Forestville, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A second victim, age 24, was also transported for non-life threatening injuries. Detectives believe that this incident stemmed from a personal dispute.
Jan. 10: About 6:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 2400 block of University Boulevard for a report of a cutting. When patrol officers arrived, they discovered Aguilar, of the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park, suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 24- year-old male who was also injured was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Detectives are investigating the possibility that this incident was gang related.
Jan. 11: Police received a call at 11:27 a.m. about a shooting that occurred on the 8800 block of 38th Avenue in College Park. The victim, a 22-year-old student at the University of Maryland was dealing drugs, police said. The shooting occurred inside the house and several people were in a house when it happened.
Jan. 11: About 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the 7400 block of Riverdale Road in New Carrollton after receiving a call from a resident stating that an unknown man was breaking into his home. Upon arrival, officers found Clyde Antwone Rosevelt Howard, 30, of the 6800 block of Riverdale Road in front of the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on scene. Preliminary investigation showed that the suspect had broken a window on the front door of the house and was trying to gain entry when he was shot by a resident of the home.
