The HVFD's annual Open House features an action and education packed day, including the return of the Kids Fire Safety Adventure Course. While completing the course kids will learn life-saving fire safety and prevention information with a chance to win great prizes. Everyone who attends can explore fire trucks and the station up close, learn about volunteer opportunities and watch exciting firefighting and rescue demonstrations by HVFD volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel. There will be a moon bounce, music, raffles and food for sale.The Open House is free to attend.

Established in 1888, the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department provides emergency fire, ladder and rescue services to the residents of Hyattsville, University Hills, Prince George's Plaza and surrounding areas. Volunteer membership is available to citizens at least 16 years of age who are willing to donate their time and talents to helping the community.
