New Hope Academy Toy Drive Raises Nearly 200 Toys for County Domestic Violence Shelter

Students, parents, and teachers at New Hope Academy, an international private school for students in Pre-K3 to 12th grade in Hyattsville, MD, recently donated nearly 200 toys to the My Little Angel Toy Drive for the holiday season.  The school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) was inspired to do the drive by an article in a local newspaper on Upper Marlboro resident Sydney Harrison who started the My Little Angel Toy Drive five years ago to provide Christmas toys and gifts for children and teens in Prince George’s County.  The donations will benefit the Prince George’s County Family Crisis Center’s domestic violence shelter. “New Hope Academy is a school that cares and shares and the toy drive has been a great way for everyone to get in the holiday spirit and help our community,” said Sheila Merriweather, PTO President.
