Artists, Property Owners Sought for Route 1 Mural Program

Hyattsville Community Development Corporation announces Street Art Initiative for Gateway Arts District.

The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation is looking for muralists to help transform up to 20 Route 1 building exteriors into artistic canvasses to showcase the Gateway Arts District.

"For years, residents and local business owners along this stretch of the Route One Corridor have endured blighted buildings, unattractive exteriors that really constitute unrealized hotspots for creativity.," reads a press release from the Hyattsville CDC announcing the mural program.

The new program, dubbed the Street Art Initiative, is designed to create a visual gateway for the Prince George's County Gateway Arts and Entertainment District which runs along Route 1 between Mount Rainier and Hyattsville.
