Coming Home: How the African American Experience in World War II Shaped the Culture of Prince George's County

On May 14, 2011, The Prince George’s African American Museum & Cultural Center (PGAAMCC) begins a new era of cultural and intellectual expression with the opening of Coming Home: How The African American Experience in World War II Shaped the Culture of Prince George’s County.

 

Coming Home features pictures, artifacts, and memorabilia from World War II, but most importantly stories from black soldiers whom have connections to Prince George’s County. There are more than 77,000 veterans in Prince George’s County and their influence in the county cannot be denied. Along with the exhibition, the Museum is launching an oral history project to document the stories of African American veterans in Prince George’s County.
