It’s finally Friday, Hyattsville! Here’s five things you should know today:

2. Ah, it’s prom night for Northwestern High. If you’re planning on strutting your stuff with your main squeeze at the hop tonight, Patch encourages you to think about making your last high school hurrah a safe one. Think about renting a limo instead of driving that way you won’t get distracted as the Adele or Black Eyed Peas songs blast as you roll up in style.

3. There’s a Hyattsville City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. You can preview the agenda on the city’s website and plan all those intricate, pointed public comments you have for the new council. If you do want to speak at the meeting, FYI, they normally have public comment time within the first five minutes of the session. When you walk into the council chambers, there are speaker cards on the table to your left. You’ll need to fill one out and hand it to City Clerk Douglas Barber.

4. Have you been following the city’s FY2012 budget talks? The City Council will be voting on it by the end of June. You can review the proposed budget here.

5. There are two new commissioners who you may need to contact in the future – considering the . Christopher Lawson of Upper Marlboro and Melanie Hartwig-Davis of Cheverly were seated on May 19. Appointed to four-year terms, they will represent Prince George’s County.
