It’s wonderful Wednesday, Hyattsville. Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1. Check out the hot deal at today starting at 2:30 p.m. We’re not telling you what it is, but if you show up there at 5 p.m., Patch editor Sarah Nemeth will be outside working and ready for you to sign up for the Hyattsville Patch newsletter. There also might be a free burrito involved!

2. Hyattsville resident Brian Benson, 58, will be remembered in a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. St. Jerome's Church. near the intersection of Centrillion Drive shortly after 11 p.m. A 2001 Mercedes, driven by Gabriel Arevalo-Melendez, 30, of Sterling, VA was travelling west and apparently crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck the motorcycle, police said.

3. There’s Bible study at 7:45 p.m. at Crossover Church. The study meets weekly on Wednesday evenings.

4. Do you know the three guys who are running for Mayor Marc Tartaro’s vacant Ward 1 City Council seat? Patch has already introduced you to Stay tuned for our chat with coming up soon. The election is July 19.

5. Did you know? 6 On July 6 1933 the American League won the first All Star Baseball game.
