Five Things You Need To Know Today (the Hy-Five)

About bed and breakfasts, the weather and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Happy Monday, Hyattsville! Here are five things you should know today:

 

1. We should see a high of 78 degrees today with a 30 percent chance of rain with thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The National Weather Service has forecast that we’ll probably see rain at least until Thursday.

2. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Hyattsville Elementary School is holding an essay contest for its fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-graders. The theme of the contest is "Your Favorite Hispanic Person."  Winners will be announced on Oct.12 at a school breakfast concluding Hispanic Heritage Month.

3. From 7:30 to 10 p.m. the City Council will meet to talk about a variety of items including an Ordinance outlining business license fees and restrictions on bed and breakfast outfits in the Hyattsville and clarifying the city's authority to issue, revoke or reinstate city business licenses.
