Heat Advisory Today: Stay Indoors

A time of excessive heat is expected.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Maryland areas including Prince George's County until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

A heat advisory means that a time of excessive heat is expected. Temperatures are expected to hit the upper 90s and humidity is expected to be high. Heat illnesses are possible.

The elderly, young children and pets are most at risk, according to the NWS, which urges people to stay hydrated and take frequent shade breaks if you must be outside.

The NWS has also issued a code orange air quality alert, which expires at midnight.

Concentrations within the regions may become unhealthy for sensitive groups of people such as children, those with asthma, heart and lung disease patients, and the elderly. The NWS suggests avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outside to minimize the effects of air pollution.
