Hyattsville Arts Fest Seeks Exhibitors

Fifth annual festival seeks local artists for downtown Route 1 event

Exhibitor registration has opened for the fifth annual Downtown Hyattsville Arts Festival, and regional artists and organizations are encouraged to apply for a spot.

There is catch, though. "Only original artwork, photography, handmade jewelry and handmade crafts are allowed," according to the Hyattsville Community Development Corporation. "No commercial merchandise will be accepted, unless it is incredibly unique and environmentally friendly in nature."

Registration (digital or analog) is open to artists from across the greater Washington region. Registration details can be found on the forms linked above.

The festival, set for Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., sees the downtown Arts District along Baltimore Avenue jammed with more than 50 visual and performing artists plying their trade.

Last year's event attracted more than 2,000 visitors to downtown Hyattsville.

The Hyattsville Arts Festival website remains set up for last year's event, but festival organizers say that it will soon be brought current with additional information for exhibitors, artists and attendees.
