Flames Engulf Edmonston Ice Cream Trucks

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

At least six ice cream trucks were damaged Monday afternoon in a fire at an ice cream distribution plant in Edmonston, according to Prince George's County Fire Department Spokesperson Mark Brady.

PGFD arrived on the scene of the fire at around 2:30 p.m. Monday to find multiple ice cream trucks in the parking lot in flames. It took firefighters around 25 minutes to extinguish the fires, and a total of six trucks had damage of some kind.

"Some were more damaged than others, some were gutted by flames," Brady said.

The fire appears to have started in one truck and quickly spread to the adjacent trucks because the vehicles are packed so closely together in the parking lot, Brady said.

PGFD is still trying to determine the estimated cost of damage incurred by the fire because ice cream trucks are a specialty vehicle -- and estimation of the worth of the trucks was not readily available -- according to Brady.

No one was injured in the fire, and there were no other damages.
