5 Things You Need To Know Today

Today's five things features MLK, football playoffs, Huntsman dropping out, celebrities and today's weather.

1. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - Today honors the great Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Although, it's not his birthday. MLK was born on January 15, 1929, meaning he would have turned 82 yesterday. 

2. The NFL conference championships are set - On Saturday the mile high messiah, Tim Tebow, lost to Tom Brady and the Patriots by a decisive 45-10. The San Francisco 49ers squeaked by the high-powered offense of the New Orleans Saints 36-32. The Ravens beat the Houston Texans 20-13 and the New York Giants knocked off the defending champion Green Bay Packers 37-20 on Sunday afternoon. The Ravens will play the Pats on Sunday at 3 p.m. and the Giants will play the 49ers at 6:30 p.m.

3. Jon Huntsman has dropped out of the Republican presidential primary race. The former governor of Utah announced he was leaving the race Sunday night. In an unsurprising move, he will endorse Mitt Romney.

4. The Golden Globes were last night - The Oscars' little brother, the Golden Globes happened on Sunday. "Modern Family" won for best television show, musical or comedy, and the George Clooney film "The Descendants" won for best motion picture. Also, host Ricky Gervais kept controversy to a minimum, but did tell Elton John to sit down after he called the Queen of Pop to the stage.

5. Today's weather will be cloudy, high of 41, light winds and rain likely at night, according to the National Weather Service. Have a great day.
