Bartending Workshop To Focus On Flair
Flairtending workshop at The Authentic Bartending School of Maryland promises to add style to substance.
Bartenders looking to spice up their repertoire should add this word to their vocabulary. Flairtending.
“Flairtending is the art of flipping bottles, doing bar tricks and overall showmanship behind the bar,” said Minyanna Farmer, owner of the Authentic Bartending School of Maryland.
The bartending school is offering a workshop on flairtending on May 19 and 20. The classes will be led by Bar Style founder Alexander “Ace” Garrison, who also teaches at one of the Authentic Bartending School’s New York locations, Farmer said.

The workshop will be devoted to what Farmer calls “working flair.”
“Working flair is being able to flip a bottle here and there as you work,” Farmer said. “Some go on to advanced flair for competition purposes.”

Bartenders with flair skills often earn extra tips with their ability to wow customers, said Farmer, who acknowledges that she personally likes to keep things simple.
“I’m a bartender but in no way a flairtender,” she said.
Workshop attendees can expect one-on-one time with Garrison, as well as a practice flair bottle, mixing tin and notebook, according to the press release. The class is open to both certified and amateur bartenders.
Six spots remain in the workshop, the price of which has recently been dropped by $75, Farmer said.
