Busboys Bookstore Grand Opening Today

Regional restaurant chain has been operating bookstore in Hyattsville location since late last year.

Busboys and Poets will celebrate the opening of its new bookstore, located inside its restaurant in the Hyattsville Arts District, during a grand opening ceremony set for today at 1 p.m.

In a press release announcing the grand opening ceremony, the local restaurant chain's media relations copywriter asks why they would consider opening a bookstore when other brick and mortar book sellers are having their business model flipped upside down by digitial retailers like Amazon and the rise of e-books.

"Our new independent bookstore…offers book lovers throughout the local community a rare, specialized collection of literary offerings that reflects the rich diversity of this cultural, artistic and progressive neighborhood," reads the press release.

Among the selections are books about politics, world affairs, sexuality, African American and Hispanic studies, as well as books by local authors, according to the release.

While the grand opening ceremony is today, the store has actually been up and running for a few months now.
