Hyattsville Gets More Spectacular With New Eyeglass Shop
New optometry clinic and eyeglass boutique opens in downtown Hyattsville
Local members of the four-eyed community have a new place to shop for specs in the Hyattsville area. Yesterday in downtown Hyattsville a new location of the optometry and eyeglass boutique MyEyeDr opened up along Route 1 between Busboys and Poets and Yes! Organic Market.
"It's been interesting," said Donovan Reid, General Manager at the new location, on his opening day experience. "I've done store launches before, but this was different because I wasn't intimately involved in putting everything together for it."
The new store offers eye exams, eye glasses, contacts and pre-op laser eye surgery consultations.

Reid himself suffers from presbyopia and wears contacts or eyeglasses depending on the situation.
"I'm of an age where my distance and my reading are both bad," sad Reid.

Reid, noting the apparently booming downtown Route 1 commercial sector, said that the new location in Hyattsville offers a great opportunity for the company to expand.
It wasn't their only choice though. Higher ups in the company also explored locating at the Mall at Prince George's, but opted for the Arts District instead.
"Hopefully we can be an anchor for the business district," said Reid.
