Patch's suggestions for Labor Day outings.

Yeah, it's Labor Day weekend, and sure, it officially marks the end of the summer. But why let that get you down? There's plenty to do.

*Kick off the holiday festivities in Greenbelt Friday night at the Roosevelt Center for the annual Midway Carnival. Lots of rides, games and food available throughout the weekend. The festival times change each day: Friday, 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.; Sunday, 12 p.m. - 11 p.m. and Monday, 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Visit http://greenbeltlaborday.com/events-and-activities/carnival-midway/

*From noon-4 p.m. on Saturday check out dinosaur fossils at Dinosaur Park, a 41-acre park in Laurel featuring a rare deposit of fossils from the Cretaceous Period. The park is located in the 13200 block of Mid-Atlantic Boulevard.

On the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, you can join paleontologists and volunteers on-site to interpret fossil deposits. Reservations are required for all activities and programs. Call 301-627-7755.

*Also on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. enjoy the Archie Edwards Barbershop Blues Jam at the old Riversdale Bookstore. http://www.acousticblues.com/Jams/jams.html Beginners to pros are welcome or just come to listen. *Here in Hyattsville, Arrow Bike hosts its 32-mile morning ride at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The moderately paced ride emphasizes group riding techniques. Those new to group riding are welcome. Riders meet at the shop on Baltimore Avenue and the ride departs by 9:15.
