Hyattsville Area Halloween Events

A guide to the area's Halloween happenings and gatherings for any age.

Here's what's happening in the Hyattsville area to celebrate Halloween:

Track of Terror Halloween Bash - 21 and over - Sponsored by the Maryland Jockey Club, this is being called a "bash for the ages" on Friday, Oct. 28. The event will feature a state of the art haunted house and is hosted by D.C.'s Hot 99.5 and Baltimore's Z104.3. The party starts at 8 p.m. and lasts until 1 a.m. with taxi services available from 11 p.m. Tickets are $25 and includes food and an open beer and wine bar. La Fontaine Bleue Halloween Costume Party - 21 and over - This event will feature the live band Oracle, a group that specializes in high-energy dance music, variety entertainment and a "large dose of fun". There will be a buffet of seasonal dishes and a top shelf open bar, according to La Fontaine Bleu, as well as a costume contest with a $200 prize for best couple, $100 for best male and $100 for best female. Tickets are $45 per person. The event starts at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at La Fontaine Bleue is located at 7963 Annapolis Road, Lanham. 301-731-4333.

Six Flags Fright Fest - It’s thrills by day, chills at night at Six Flags Fright Fest. Six Flags America has been totally transformed into a Halloween playground, featuring hair-raising shows, electrifying street entertainment and thrilling haunted attractions. Plus, experience all your favorite rides in the dark. Open daily. The last day of the event is October 30. HallowMarine at the National Aquarium - ages 3 to 11 - The Baltimore aquairum is inviting guests to discover the spooky side of marine life at this family event on Oct. 29. Guests are encouraged to arrive in costume and take part in indoor trick-or-treating as well as an array of interactive activites. Event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $24.95 for adults and $19.95 for children age 3 - 11.

Fall Spooky Fest - everyone - Hyattsville's own family friendly event will include a Monster Mash Dance Party featuring DJ Kurt, a costume contest for kids 12 and under, a trick-or-treat trail and pumpkin decorating. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place Saturday, Oct. 29 at , 3325 Toledo Road, Hyattsville from 2 - 4 p.m. For more information call 301-985-5020.

Creepy Halloween Party - 60 and up - Enjoy traditional snacks and have lots of laughs at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center. Organizers are asking guests to find a creative and fun costume to wear. Prizes will be awarded for the cutest, funniest and most original costumes. Wanna dance? Monster mash line dancing for everyone. Tickets are $5 for Laurel residents, $6 for non-residents. The event will take place on Friday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to Noon at 7120 Contee Road, Laurel. Call 301-206-3355 for more information.

Disco Babies Halloween - ages 1 to 7 - This event allows parents and their young childrent the opportunity to spend time together while enjoying sounds of "oldies" dance/party music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. There will be dancing, arts and crafts, and various board games. Children may wear their favorite costume. The event is free. It is being held on Saturday Oct. 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College Park Community Center, 5051 Pierce Avenue, College Park. 301-441-2647.

Bowie Baysox Psycho Safari - 13 and up - The Psycho Safari haunted house at Prince George's Stadium is rated PG-13 and parental discretion is highly advised. The show features more than 30 live actors along with props and special effects, and takes approximately 20 minutes to walk through. Tickets for the haunted house are $17, and special rates are available for groups of 10 or more that order tickets in advance. The final four days of the Safari will be Friday Oct. 28 - Mon. Oct. 31. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and close at 11 p.m.

- everyone - Join in the fun! Celebrate Halloween with your dogs and their friends at Heurich Dog Park on October 30 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dress your dog up in your favorite dog costume and bring food to share with people friends. Also, bring some kind of dog treats for the pups to share with their buddies. Put on your thinking caps and come enjoy your dogs and their friends. This doggy event is located at  - Nicholson Street and Ager Road, Hyattsville.

Cabin John's "Eye Spy" Halloween Train - 8 and under - Looking for something fun (and not too scary) to do with your younger kids during the Halloween season? Cabin John's "Eye Spy" Halloween Train features just enough "boo" power for kids age 8 and under. The train takes passengers on a ride through the woods and kids can look to find Halloween friends hiding along the way, and mark them off their "Eye Spy" cards. Halloween outdoor movies will also be played. Make sure to check the weather, the train can't be run when there's moisture on the track. Rides will take place Thursday, Oct. 27 - 30 starting at noon. Sunday, Oct. 30 is Howl-o-Ween, in which dogs may be brought on the train for free. Tickets are $6.00 per person. The train ride is located at 7400 Tuckerman Lane Road, Rockville. 

Wheaton Haunted Train and Creepy Carousel - 8 and up - Wheaton Regional Park's Haunted Train and Creepy Carousel are back. This annual Halloween attraction is designed for people 8 years old and above, because, as they note on their website, they do their best to make it very scary! The train will operate from Thursday Oct. 27 to Sunday Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Like the "Eye Spy" train, this ride will only operate if there is no moisture on the track so check the weather. Located at 2002 Shorefield Road, Wheaton. Call 301-942-6703 for train information.
