Winter Weather Headed Our Way
The National Weather Service asks for motorists to be careful when driving in wintry conditions tonight and tomorrow.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hyattsvile and other areas in the Washington D.C. region effective from 11 p.m. this evening through 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The advisory calls for snow, sleet and freezing rain to descend upon the area later tonight and into the early morning hours. The wintry precipitation is expected to leave up to an inch of snow and sleet on the ground plus a small coating of ice from freezing rain.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service say the winter weather will start off as snow and sleet before changing to freezing rain and then regular rain later in the day on Saturday.
Temperatures will fall tonight into the upper 20s and lower 30s. Highs Saturday will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
The winter weather will likely make driving treacherous, and the National Weather Service warns of low visibilities while driving, asking motorists to use caution while on the road.
