Community Supported Music - Inaugural Performance

Gateway Community Development Corporation is pleased to present COMMUNITY SUPPORTED MUSIC (CSM), a music series supported by  Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

CSM is a new program with the mission of supporting local musicians and bringing high quality music performances to the venues of the Maryland Gateway Arts district.

Jazz and Film: Thad Wilson and Kindred Soul will kick-off the series with Wilson’s original soundtrack during a screening of Louis Malle’s classic noir thriller, Elevator to the Gallows.

Trumpeter, Composer and Cottage City, MD resident, Thad Wilson, has been making music for over 30 years.  He leads a 16-piece big band, has had extensive experience in the musical production "Ella" and currently teaches Jazz Studies at George Washington University. In addition, Thad performs with numerous artists around the world. This endeavor involves the performance by his 5-piece group "Kindred Soul" of Thad's original composition for Louis Malle's film noir, "Ascenseur poor L'echafaud" or"Elevator to the Gallows" (1958; 88 minutes; French with English subtitles).
