Sunday Brunch Jazz with Asheley Jenkins

Asheley Jenkins attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY with the intention of becoming a medical doctor in the Army, only to realize through participation in the Cadet Gospel Choir that her passion for music surpassed her military career goals. After completing her first year at West Point, Asheley transferred to Bennett College in Greensboro, NC, where she majored in music education. Upon her return to the DC metropolitan area, the opportunity to perform as keyboardist and vocalist helped to further cultivate her sound. Elements of jazz, gospel, hip-hop and rock influence Asheley 's vocals and instrumentals. Her style, combined with her dedication to a quality project, have afforded her the opportunity to write and produce a number of original songs and arrangements. She has contributed to various projects with local artists, songwriters and a stagewright including play “The Great Pretender” written by Ivy Hawkins of Portraits of Faith Productions. Additionally, her music can be found inside the novel "7:33 am" by Monda Webb. The novel includes a companion CD with seven original songs written and arranged by Hermond Palmer and Asheley "PHOENYX " Jenkins, produced and performed by Asheley. She has conducted music workshops and is a piano instructor in the DC metropolitan area. She has taught various music classes in high schools and churches. Asheley is currently a pianist at a local church. Her passion is evident in every opportunity she is able to share her gift with others.
