Hyattsville, MD May 6, 2014 Echo Realty, LP and The Bernstien Companies are pleased to announce the groundbreaking for a new retail shopping venue, the Gateway at University Town Center (UTC). The project comprises 82,000 square feet and is anchored by Safeway, Unleashed by PETCO and Phoenix Salon Suites, an upscale spa/salon boutique. The Gateway at UTC will importantly draw traffic to America Boulevard at UTC which currently features Regal Royale Cinema’s 14-screen studio seating theater, numerous restaurants, residential condominiums, lofts and towers, and approximately 1.25 million square feet of office.

Hyattsville is a thriving city in Prince George’s County Maryland, a close-in “first ring” suburb of Washington, DC. The Gateway at UTC is within 5-minutes walking distance of the Mall at Prince George’s, the Prince George’s Plaza Metro station on WMATA’s Green Line, and several first quality residential condominium and apartment communities. ECHO Realty, responsible for the new development, is a leader in developing “needs-based” grocery anchored retail centers. Over the past decade ECHO has successfully developed several million square feet of quality retail properties in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the Mid-Atlantic region.
