Tasty, zingy, refreshing vanilla bean lemonade to quench your thirst on a hot day.

Now that summer is just about here, it's time to explore the world of refreshing, icy drinks. After all, there's nothing better on a hot, scorching day than a freezing glass of something cold. Whether it's a slushy margarita or a chilly beer, you need something to refresh you after spending time out in the heat. 

And let's be honest, it's already burning out there. 

This vanilla bean lemonade is just the ticket for this season. The sweetness of the vanilla really offsets the tarty lemon flavor.  It's a great twist on a classic summer favorite. Serve a boatload of it for your next big party. Guests will thank you. 

If you want to make this an adult beverage, add in a shot of vodka. You can really up the ante by adding vanilla vodka. But don't let it fool you. The sweet taste can really be deceiving. Drink slow.

Vanilla Bean Lemonade

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 1/2 cups hot water

Juice of 4 lemons

2 Tbsp. vanilla bean paste (substitute with vanilla extract if you must but try to get the good stuff). 

In a large pitcher, combine sugar and water. Stir until sugar has dissolved. 

 Add in the vanilla bean paste and stir well to combine.

Juice the lemons into a separate dish. Add the juice to the pitcher and stir well, combining all the ingredients.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
