Five Things You Need to Know in Hyattsville Today (the Hy-Five)

About things to do with kids over winter break.

Well, Hyattsville, it’s “letdown Monday,” the day the 12-month buildup to Christmas comes crashing to a screeching halt. But why be blue? There’s a lot to look forward to even before 2011 is over. Here are five things to do with the kids before they return to school:

 

1. If you missed it, you can still see the Winter Festival of Lights at Watkins Park this year. Head on over to Upper Marlboro from 5 to 9:30 p.m. for the fun.

2. has “Club Joe’s” after school program for youth ages 6 to 13 to have an arts-based learning environment. The club runs through the end of the school year and you can register your child online.

4. Herbert Wells Ice Rink has public skating Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at various times.
