Pearl Harbor: Day of Infamy for 70 Years

At 7:55 a.m., Pacific Time, Japanese fighter planes attacked the U.S. air base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The onslaught lasted two hours, killing over 2,500 people, and wounding hundreds more.

Seventy years ago today the United States experienced one of the most deadly attacks in U.S. history.

The events of December 7, 1941, described by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as the “date which will live in infamy," plunged the country head-on into World War II.
