Firefighters Respond to Fire in Abandoned Warehouse

A trash compactor and an old car were on fire when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Prince George's County firefighters responded to smoke in a one-story abandoned warehouse in the 2900 block of Hamilton Street near the intersection of Ager Road, according to Fire/EMS spokesman Mark Brady.

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames coming from a trash compactor and an old car stored in the building. The fire was out by 11:30 a.m., Brady said

No injuries are reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation; however, Brady said that it's more than likely that vagrants may have been inside the warehouse and accidentally set the fire.
