Fires Blaze Through Two Edmonston Homes

Fires around the county brought off-duty firefighters back to work.

About 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, as Prince George’s County firefighters were battling several brush fires around the county, two houses in Edmonston caught on fire.

Firefighters as far away as Seat Pleasant responded to the incident. First arriving units reported fire showing from the first floor of a two-story house in the 5100 block of Decatur Street and fire coming from the first floor of a one-story house in the 4800 block of 51st Avenue just around the corner.

With two houses on fire additional units were called to the scene to assist in battling the two fires.

Residents were able to get out safety, fire officials said.

Firefighters were able to bring the two fires under control within 20 minutes with no injuries reported. The cause of the fires is under investigation
