Forestville Man Dies After Stabbing

Ralph Bernard Thomas Jr., 28, of the 2200 block of Barkley Place in Forestville, died from stab wounds early this morning in Suitland, according to Prince George's County Police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson.

At approximately 4:02 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 7500 block of Marion Street in District Heights for a report of a cutting, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found Thomas, of the 2200 block of Barkley Place in Forestville, suffering from stab wounds; he was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, making this the county's 17th homicide this year.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the victim sustained his injuries at Silver Hill and Suitland roads. Thomas and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that subsequently ended when he was fatally injured, police said.

The suspect was last seen fleeing the area with another occupant in a light blue, 2007 or 2008 model, Chevrolet Malibu having an unknown original Maryland plate, according to police.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
