Guilty Verdict in New Year's Eve 2010 Murder

Prosecutors asking for life sentence plus 40 years in prison.

After deliberating for less than an hour, a jury has found a 30-year-old man guilty of the murder of a 58-year-old Chillum man on New Year's Eve 2010.

David Henry Wright, also from Chillum, was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of Ansel Donova Whitlocke.

Prosecutors with the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office said that Wright stabbed Whitlocke 43 times after Whitlocke refused to hand over money to Wright and two accomplices during a New Year's Eve robbery at Whitlocke's apartment.

Back in May, Williams was sentenced to 45 years behind bars and five years of supervised probation. In September 2011, Coleman was sentenced to 18 years in jail and five years of supervised probation.

According to prosecutors, Williams and Coleman came up with the plan to rob Whitlocke in his Chillum apartment. Coleman and another friend spent some time with Whitlocke on New Year's Eve, but shortly after she left, Wright and Williams burst into the apartment and demanded money. When Whitlocke refused, Wright fatally attacked him.

Wright and Williams then left Whitlocke's apartment, taking a bible, some jewelry and about $550 in cash with them.

Wright's sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 29. Prosecutors are pushing for a life sentence plus 40 years behind bars.
