Hyattsville Police Seek Help Finding Home Invasion Suspect

A woman was beaten in her Nicholson Street apartment early Tuesday morning.

A woman was beaten in her Nicholson Street apartment early Tuesday morning by an unknown man who allegedly entered her home through an unlocked kitchen window, according to a Safe City Alert issued by the within the last hour.

At 3:30 a.m. officers responded to an apartment in the 2600 block of Nicholson Street (Kirkwood Apartments) for a home invasion robbery. The victim said that she woke up to find a masked man in her bedroom, who demanded money and began to beat her when she tried to fight him off. The victim allegedly was hit in the face multiple times and choked.

The suspect fled with the victim’s cell phone.

The suspect is described as an 18-30-year-old black male with a slim build and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black mask with eye openings, a white shirt with a black and blue waist length, collared jacket and black leather gloves, the alert stated.
