Man Murdered in Mount Rainier

Early morning shooting leaves one man dead in Mount Rainier.

Mount Rainier and Prince George's County police departments are investigating an early morning shooting which left one man dead.

At about 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, officers from the Mount Rainier Police Department responded to the 3800 block of 37th Street for reports of shots fired. 

According to Mount Rainier Police Chief Michael Scott, Mount Rainier police were on the scene in less than a minute.

Once on scene, police discovered an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center where he was declared dead. 

Police have not yed identified the victim, nor have they identified a possible suspect or a motive.

According to a spokesperson from the Prince George's County Police Department's Media Relations Division, the county homicide unit is handling the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call the Prince George's County Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division at 301-772-4925 or the Mount Rainier Police Department at 301-985-6580 or calling Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477 or by sending a text message to the number 274637. The text message must begin with the word "PGPD".
